True and Proper
What I’ve disclosed to you is true and proper for you, as the Head of Household, to know.
True
It’s true. I know this because I’ve made a considerable effort to talk with (and sometimes confront) individuals. I’ve pored over the necessary documents, and cross-checked facts. I am willing to attest with a very high degree of certainty that the claims/assertions made here are true. Concrete evidence exists.
Proper
Trinity Church’s Constitution delineates the duties of the elders, deacons, and HOH. When there’s a violation of what’s outlined in there, then it becomes a right for the HOH to know about that violation. Here are excerpts from Trinity Church’s Constitution that are relevant:
Elders: “Under Christ, the authority of the local church is the board of elders or presbyters in session. In their capacity as a Session, the elders oversee all the affairs of the church.”
All affairs, as it says. Whether it’s spiritual or physical needs of those in the Church, the buck always stops with the elders. This extends to when a deacon starts flying solo and dragging the church along with him. The elders have the duty to hold that deacon accountable, and disclose that event.
Deacons: “Under the general oversight of the elders, the deacons will, as much as is practicable, manage the financial, physical, social, and benevolent functions of the church.”
The mundane physical needs of the Church. That’s it.
HOH meetings: “Congregational representatives are those members who are heads of households […] These meetings will be the normal channel through which the elders […] receive formal feedback from the congregation via the representatives.”
You, as HOH, have a responsiblity to lead your children, wife, and household. If “open secrets” are allowed to persist that give you a overly rosy picture of the elders/deacons, then you can’t give particularly good feedback to them. This is why it’s proper for you to know.
Peace if possible. The truth at all costs.
